Xbox Music To Be Revealed Along With Windows 8.1 Apps

Microsoft is boasting about the number of built-in apps for the Windows 8.1 operating system, but the Music app seems to get some important changes. A freshly designed copy of the Windows Store has revealed the latest user interface for Xbox Music. Microsoft had previously revealed to The Verge that the aim of the new music app is on playing music over surfacing new content. The notable change is that the users will be able to play the songs within two clicks rather than six.

The latest screenshots of the new Xbox Music update that are available in the Internet show a two-panel interface. This interface appears to improve the discoverability of the music and makes it very easy to quickly access a collection of songs. The Xbox Music version that was originally launched in October for the Windows 8 and Windows RT systems, has the ability to access songs from an Xbox 360 device too. Even though, this service includes the most popular songs and albums, the interface was very slow and clunky on the Windows 8 and Windows RT systems.

The updated music app aims to improve this. This has been achieved with a simplified layout and design, as per the Microsoft support center. Another important addition is a persistent in-app search box, which gives the users improved search results, Play To support for those songs that are out of the Xbox Music catalogue, and support for music files on SD storage cards.

Microsoft is also planning to add a number of built-in apps like calculator, scan, Movie Moments, Sound Recorder, Reading List, and Help and Tips. The Movie Moments app allows the users to edit videos from a touch friendly interface and the Reading List serves as a super clipboard to store links and other snippets from other applications. The Calculator, Sound Recorder and Scan apps are simplified touch-friendly versions that are aimed at replacing the legacy desktop versions. The Help and Tips area will include a number of tutorials for the new Windows 8.1 users to help them get rid of any confusion about the new interface.

Along with the Xbox Music redesign, the interface of the Windows Store has also been altered. There are many improvements in the top paid and free sections, new releases and the picks for you section. If you wish to know more on the latest changes that are made to the Windows Store and the Xbox interface, you may refer the Microsoft support forums.

Finding The Number Of Cores In Your Processor

One could say that the brain of a computer is its processor as it does all the calculations, memory operations and runs the entire programs installed in the system. Most of the computer users think that processors have the ability to run multiple programs at the same time but in reality, a processor can only run one process at a time. They switch between different processors for enabling multi tasking. This reduces the performance of the computer to a great extent as the processor has to switch between two or more processes at regular intervals.

To fix this issue, the processor manufacturers found newer processors with multiple cores for making multi-tasking easier and speedier. Most of the computers that are released now have multiple cores. If you are wondering how one would know how many processor cores your computer has, follow the simple instructions given below by the Windows support number desk.

Instructions

  • Go to the leftmost corner of your taskbar and then click on the Start button found there to open the Start menu.
  • Right click on the Computer tab found in the right side pane of your computer and then select the Properties option from the drop down menu to open the System Properties window.
  • When the System Control Panel Window opens, click on the option named Device Manager found at the left side pane of the System Control Panel window.
  • Look for the option named Processors in the left side pane under the Device Manger tab and then click on it to expand the option. Now you will be able to see all the entries under the Processors tab. You will be able to see all the individual cores in the processors under this section with separate lines, even though all of them have the same name. Count the number of lines with the same processor name, which is the number of processor cores your computer has. For example, if yours is an i5 processor, you will be shown the processor name listed four times in separate lines, this means that you have four cores in the computer.

If you follow the simple instructions given above, you will be able to know how many cores your computer’s processor has. If you are not able to see the number of cores in your processor, call the Windows support number for any further help.

Using The XP Password Reset Feature

Users can set a password for the Windows XP operating system to protect it from any intrusions. This will prevent unauthorized access to your computer and the personal files stored in it. If the log in password of Windows XP is turned on, you will be asked to enter the password to get access to the operating system. It is very likely that you may forget this password. If you have forgotten the log in password, you can make use of the previously created password reset disk. With the help of this disk, you will be able to reset the old password and create a new password for Windows XP.

Fix Windows 8 Audio Related Issues

Windows 8 is the latest version of the Windows operating system, released by the Microsoft Corporation. It came out in the wake of the huge hype over its release, but now a doubt remains among the many early users as to whether this hype was justified.
Many new Windows 8 problems have surfaced, and most are irritating considering the fact that the previous version, Windows 7, did not have as many issues. However, the fact remains that Windows 8 was designed mainly keeping touch-screen devices in mind, so some of the Windows 8 problems were to be expected.

The audio failure in Windows 8

There have been reports of failure in audio performance on Windows 8 run PCs. Users of this operating system think that this has happened due to carelessness on Microsoft’s part. Many users found themselves unable to hear the sound when they played audio files from their systems. Audio being one of the basic requirements of a computer, this issue renders the device unusable.

How to fix the audio issues in Windows 8
  • From the home screen of the computer, select the Desktop by clicking on the tile representing it.
  • The first thing to do is to check out the Speaker icon on your task bar at the bottom right hand corner. See that it isn’t covered by a red circle, and if it is, this means the speaker is muted. Find the Unmute icon nearby and click on it.
  • If the above step doesn’t fix the problem, then check to ensure that the speaker is not disabled. Enable it if that is the case. To enable the speaker, first right-click on the speaker icon on the task bar. From the menu that appears, choose Playback devices. Once there, right-click the Speaker icon and select the Enable option. After this, click Apply and then confirm the changes by clicking Ok. This must fix the issue in most cases.
  • If the above step doesn’t seem to do the trick, you might be missing audio drivers, or the ones you have might be corrupted. Re-install the driver to fix the problem.
The above steps must fix your issue with the faulty audio, if you follow them properly and don’t bungle it up. If you have further doubts on the same, consider contacting Microsoft, either online or over the phone, for support.

How To Turn Off AVG Antivirus Resident Shield Feature

Is your computer acting weird?  Isn’t it giving its optimum speed and performance? Sometimes the AVG antivirus that you have in your computer can make your computer run slow. It can affect almost all applications on your computer. All the word editing, emailing applications and photo editing tools may fail to respond properly. Your computer applications start to slow down and you find it difficult to use them in the proper way.
This sluggish performance might be due to the intervention of AVG software with other programs. Since it scans many files and folders for infections, AVG consumes a big chunk of the CPU share. However, it is not advised to disable the security software. There are instances where you get suggestions to disable any running programs or applications when you try to install some programs or drivers to avoid unwanted interruptions during the installation process. If you are using AVG, you might then probably need to temporarily disable the Resident Shield, which is the main module of AVG.
The AVG software protects your computer on multiple levels. However, in certain cases, you might need to disable some of its features to avoid complications while installing other programs. Below mentioned are the steps on how to disable the AVG Resident Shield.

Instructions
  • Go to the System Tray of the taskbar and right-click on the Resident Shield icon. From the popup menu, click on the option Open AVG User Interface.
  • Locate the option Resident Shield in the middle of the AVG user interface window and double-click on it. Alternatively, you may click on Tools, and then select Advanced Settings.  Further, click on Resident Shield.
  • Go to the Resident Shield Settings section and unmark the checkbox next to Resident Shield Active. Then click on Save Changes.
  • Even though you disable the Resident Shield, the email scanner and other virus protection features will remain active.
  • After you have installed all the software applications and drivers, select the checkbox for Resident Shield Active. Click Save Changes again. This will enable the AVG module again.
  • Finally exit from the AVG User Interface window and reboot your computer.
If you require any assistance on this or any other subject related to AVG antivirus program, please feel free to contact the AVG Customer Services. They have a full fledged customer support service to help users who need assistance on using their product.

Improvements In Microsoft Dynamics CRM

With the release of Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Microsoft offers customer relationship management and CRM online solutions for various fields like sales, marketing, customer service and many such circles. Customer relationship management (CRM) is a widely accepted and implemented model when it comes to managing a company’s interactions with customers, clients, and sales prospects.
When Microsoft launched its first version, Microsoft Dynamics CRM 1.0, it had several performance issues that affected its popularity. Due to this reason, Microsoft delayed the release of Dynamics 2.0, finally deciding to launch version 3.0 of their CRM software.

Data Disappearing Issues

There were constant complaints and reports that the toolbars in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 1.0 kept disappearing without any warning and again reappearing sometime later. There were problems with opening an account with another entity, say a distributor.
For instance, we know that sales people usually work with the leads. The information about the lead that was being entered into the “Notes” area would disappear once the lead was changed into an account.

Email Related Issues

Email sending issue was another problem with CRM 1.0. Like any other CRM programs, email will be sent out to targeted customers. But CRM 1.0 program sometimes created nuisance by inserting random sequence of letters and numbers into the email subject, which resulted in blocking of such emails by some spam filters. But this problem was resolved in Dynamics CRM 3.0. In case you need any assistance on this, you can contact Microsoft phone support or Microsoft chat support.

Explorer Problems

Like the Microsoft Explorer, Dynamics CRM 3.0 uses popup windows. Users had difficulty in using Dynamics CRM 3.0 and Microsoft Explorer at the same time. When a user navigates to a web page that generates pop-ups like advertisements or something else, Microsoft Explorer was instantly forced to shut down. According to Microsoft, this was a compatibility issue with Windows XP with Service Pack 2, or Windows Server 2003 and Service Pack 1. This problem can be resolved by downloading the latest version of Microsoft Explorer 6.
Microsoft has now eliminated almost all the issues related to Dynamics CRM software, thereby ensuring better user experience. But if you still have problems using it, call in for assistance from the Microsoft Support Team. You may also avail the help of Microsoft chat support and the technicians would assist you in solving the issue.

Although Outlook opens such items without any issue, the application occasionally fails to do so and displays some error messages like “Invalid XML error”, “Unable to open contact folders”, “Unable to open attachments”, and sometimes Outlook also comes up with an error message that says, "The object could not be found." • Re-launch Outlook 2007 on your computer. Outlook will create a new, non-corrupt data cache file automatically when it loads.

How To Troubleshoot Your Private Chat Issues On Xbox Live?

Xbox Live is an online gaming and digital media service developed by Microsoft. Although it is seen as a video gaming console, it offers many more features such as Video chat, Voice chat, Xbox Music, etc. However, sometimes Xbox Live users face trouble in commencing a Private Chat with one or more friends. Hence, it may turn out to be an irritating experience for most of the users.
However, in such cases, you can try these following instructions to troubleshoot the issue before contacting the Microsoft problems and support chat number.
  • Always check your Parental Control settings by clicking the System tab on the Dashboard. Now, select Family Settings. The current setting must read Allowed, under the option Access to Xbox Live
  • In the next step, restart your Xbox 360 console. Like some PCs, your Xbox 360 may just need to be restarted. Wait 30 seconds before powering on the Xbox 360.
  • Now, check to see that your headset and controller are working properly. The problem can also be the microphone malfunctioning, or a poor wireless controller connection.
  • After checking for such issues, remove the controller’s rechargeable battery. This is advised because if you use a rechargeable battery for your controller, the source of your issues may be the battery, even if it is fully charged.
  • Now, test your Internet connection. Select Network Settings from the menu, followed by Text Xbox Live Connection. You would be signed out of Xbox Live, and begin a series of tests. Once the tests are completed, make sure that the results for each test read either Confirmed or Connected. You can also contact the Microsoft problems and support chat number before adjusting any settings under this tab.
  • Now, check if your NAT setting reads Open. When the Xbox Live Connection test is complete, the last test listed will be the NAT test, found at the bottom of the tab. If your results read Strict or Moderate, your router settings would be preventing your Xbox from communicating with other users, except those who have an Open NAT setting.
  • Now, reset your router. However, if your connection test results read Confirmed or Connected and your NAT setting reads Open, but you are still unable to have a Private Chat with your Friend, power off your router, wait 30 seconds, then power it back on and sign back on to Live.
You could follow this procedure to troubleshoot your Private Chat issues on Xbox Live. However, you could also contact the Xbox Live tech support to clear your queries.

Fix Your Outlook Problems

MS Outlook is an incredible application as part of the MS Office suite. It functions as an excellent email client, and keeps you connected with friends, colleagues and family. But there is more; it also has calendars, appointment setting options, notes making and journals, as well as contact management services which make it a great personal manger tool. Though it is a program developed by Microsoft, it cannot be linked to Windows. Operations and techniques that repair Windows may not necessarily fix Outlook. A lot depends on what is the fundamental problem in Outlook, to see if Windows System Restore can fix your Outlook problems.
You should initially also check if a PST file corruption is the cause of your problems. Outlook PST files are more prone to corruption, so it should be a matter of concern. If you use older versions of Outlook that save in the ANSI format, then the issue could possibly be from your PST file exceeding the maximum file size limit of 2 GB. The newer versions use the UNICODE format, and have space for 20 GB information. Corrupt PST files can be checked using the scanpst.exe function. You can also choose to repair Outlook by using some tools like the Outlook Repair Tool, which will most likely help you reach a diagnosis.
Using Windows System Restore for your petty Outlook problems may be a drastic step. It is advisable to do some online research on the problem at hand, and look for solutions there. There are tons of forums, websites and pages which talk specifically about problems encountered in Outlook, and also have reliable and simple manual and software solutions.
It is also more advisable to reinstall the Outlook application than rely on a system restore. This should be done if you totally run out of all the solutions that you could get your hands on. Reinstall by getting your genuine Outlook or MS Office setup disc, then proceed to reinstall. You can bet that all your problems will be wiped clean when you finish reinstalling. But before you proceed to reinstall your system make sure you have a backup of your current .pst file. Then recreate your account and restore all your emails, addresses, and calendars from the archives.
Hopefully you will be able to treat your MS Outlook by yourself without having to restore; however, if problems persist feel free to contact Outlook helpdesk where you get reliable service for your Outlook troubles.

Troubleshoot Errors In Microsoft Programs

Microsoft Office Suite is a set of applications that includes MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook etc. and offers the best in its class user experience and features. However, users might sometimes have problems with using MS Office products.
Follow the Microsoft Support guidelines given below in order to fix Microsoft Office product activation errors.
  • Ensure that you have correctly set the date and time details.
  • Make sure that the Microsoft program that you are using is not a trial version, as the trial versions will run only with reduced functionalities, once the trail period expires.
  • Make sure that you are connected to the internet. Ensure that your network channels are not blocked by a firewall or a proxy server that requires authentication.
  • You should not have multiple installations of the same program in your computer. For example, if you have installed a retail version of the Office 2003 and the trial version of the same program, then it might result in you getting an "invalid product key" error message.
  • If you are not able to successfully complete a reinstallation process, make sure that you remove the license file from your computer. If you are using a Windows XP computer, you can do this by clicking on the Start button located in the lower left corner of your Windows desktop screen and then selecting the Run option. Steps To Prevent A Laptop Overheating

Laptops have replaced the personal computers to a great extent, as they prove to be more user friendly than the latter. The fact is that laptops do suffer from a lot of issues, as compared to the personal computer. This owes to the fact that they can be taken along with us wherever we go, unlike desktops. These gadgets have influenced our lives so much that if they stopped working, we’d come to a standstill. When your laptop shuts down right in the middle of a complicated process, the whole experience is almost bound to get tiresome and irritating.

What to do if your laptop overheats
  • The first step to take while doing computer repair is to clean the bottom ventilation openings with a can of compressed air. Shoot the air in short, fast bursts directly into the open spaces to clear the dust.
  • Do not set your laptop on hard, solid surfaces. The best stand advised for your laptop is one with lots of vents so that air flows freely back and forth from the laptop bottom vents. You can also buy laptop trays or stands with built-in fans, which blow air up at the bottom of the laptop for further cooling. These trays operate on battery power or, for ease of use, plug directly into a USB port on your computer to run.
  • Always take the battery out of the back of the laptop, and open the laptop up to get rid of internal dust buildup, which can be a major cause of the issue. If too much dust is inside the computer, the unit will overheat repeatedly, and even shut down on its own. Remove the hard drive and put it aside to protect it. You can also contact tech support to know more about computer repair.
  • Turn the machine over and pry up the top strip over the keyboard with a small flat-head screwdriver. Now, lift the keyboard out and remove the tab that connects it to the laptop.
  • The compressed airflow can be used to blow off the inner fan and all of the components. Once this is done, you can put the computer back together by reversing the same steps.

Therefore, you can follow these steps before contacting a technician. However, if you are not sure enough about performing them, the best option would be resorting to technical support.

How To Enable Frames In Internet Explorer In Windows XP?

Internet Explorer can be termed as a series of graphical web browsers that are designed by Microsoft as a part of the Windows operating system. It is one of the most widely used web browsers and Microsoft has added many advanced features and technologies in it to make it more user friendly and sophisticated. While browsing on the Internet Explorer or IE, you may have come across certain error messages which says – Website cannot be displayed. These errors may be caused due to the frames encoded into the website that you may be viewing. Internet Explorer 8 has the ability to display the frames. However, sometimes these frames would not be displayed correctly. In some cases, your security settings may be blocking the website’s ability to display the frames properly hence, you can change the security settings. It may also be a result of compatibility issues. In such cases, you can view if the same website worked on an older version of IE.

You can check these instructions to get the pages to show up, without seeking assistance from the Internet Explorer support :
  • The first and foremost step would be to adjust the security setting if it is the main cause. Click on Tools in the menu bar that is present on top of the program. A drop down menu list would appear wherein you would have to select Internet Options.
  • Once, it is selected, you can move to the options at the top of the box. Select Security tab option. Now, click the green check mark for Trusted Sites. At any point of time, you can seek assistance from the Internet Explorer support and clear your queries.
  • Now, locate the option for the option Navigate windows and frames across different domains which would be present more than halfway down the list.
  • Once, it is selected, click the circle to Enable this option followed by OK. You may get a message that reads- Warning! Are you sure you want to change the setting for this zone? Here, click Yes , followed by OK on the Internet Options box.
  • As mentioned earlier, the error message could also be a reason owing to the compatibility issues of the version of IE. In such cases, go to the website that is not working.
  • Click Tools in the menu bar and select Compatibility View from the drop-down menu list.
  • Now, refresh the page and the website should display normally.
Therefore, by following this set of simple steps, you can get the website pages to show up on your system if they show error messages.

Effective Ways To Fix Windows Vista Shutdown Issues

If your computer is running on Vista and you are facing shutdown issues, then you need to troubleshoot and fix the root problem before it corrupts your operating system. Due to many reasons, your computer may take a long time to shut down completely or it may not shut down at all.

In this article, we will discuss about the different factors that cause shutdown issues and the ways to fix them. The following instructions will guide you to fix Microsoft problems like Windows Vista shutdown issues.

Shutdown Issues
  • Check whether all the hardware devices are working correctly. Having hardware with missing or incorrect drivers can result in Vista shutdown issues. Open the Device Manager and check the status of each and every device. If you happen to locate a device with missing or incorrect drivers then install the drivers of the device immediately. You must also check whether each device has the latest drivers by visiting the device manufacturer's website.
  • Check your Windows Vista registry for any redundant entries and potential problems. If you have been using your computer for some time, then it is likely to have several incorrect or redundant registry entries due to installation issues, virus and spyware attacks etc. Use a good registry cleaner to fix your registry. Make sure to create a system restore point and backup your registry before you make any changes in the registry so that you can restore your system in case something goes wrong.
  • You can also try changing the virtual memory settings to improve the shutdown times. The virtual memory has a file that is used for swapping memory pages with the disk when they are not in use. The default setting of the virtual memory is to clear this page file at shutdown. However, this process can take some time and slow down the shutdown process. You can try disabling this option to see if it improves the shutdown time.
  • You can try disabling the Terminal Services from the list of local services to improve the shutdown time. Run services.msc to launch the list of services and look out for Terminal Services and disable it.
  • You can try running the Clean Boot troubleshooting to determine the problems associated with the shutdown process. The Clean Boot troubleshooting will do several checks to identify the actual problem associated with the shutdown process.
As you can see from the above steps, you need to try several things before you can identify and fix the Windows Vista shutdown problems. If you have any other Microsoft problems related to Vista operating system, contact the Microsoft Support Center.

Though Outlook Express is considered a versatile email client application, it too can have glitches and errors. One common error found in Outlook Express is its email folder corruption. “Folder could not be displayed. Outlook express could not open this folder.
Possible causes are: Low disk space. Low memory”.

You get this error message even when you have sufficient disk space and memory available.

Possible causes

  • If the Outlook Express Inbox.dbx is set to read-only, you will receive such an error message.

Solution to fix the error
