Changing The Outlook Express Email Account

The Outlook Express program comes integrated with the Windows XP operating system. This is a basic desktop email client, which makes use of both POP and IMAP email protocols. The users can configure the Outlook Express program to connect to multiple email accounts simultaneously. This article discusses the procedure to change the Outlook Express email account. You can also refer to the Outlook Express help module provided in the Microsoft web site for further clarification on the steps. While managing the account settings, you can remove an already existing account, add a new account or change the configuration of an account.

Instructions
  • Turn on your computer and click on the Start button that is on the left hand bottom corner of the desktop screen. Click on the All Programs button. This will populate a list of all the programs installed and select Outlook Express from the list. This will open the Outlook Express program.
  • In the Outlook Express window, click on the Tools option in the menu bar at the top of the interface and select Accounts.
  • Navigate to the Mail tab to view the list of all the email accounts that you have currently set up with the Outlook Express program.
  • Press on the Add button and follow the on screen prompts to set up the new email account.
  • You can delete an existing account by selecting its name and then clicking on the Remove button.
  • To modify an existing account, select the account by clicking on the account once and then click on the Properties button.
  • To change the incoming and outgoing server addresses of the Outlook Express program, you can go to the Server tab. You can also change the username and password to be used for this account from this tab.
  • After performing the above steps, click on the OK button to save the changes that you have made in the Outlook Express program for that particular account.
