Microsoft Considers Xbox Live Integration With Android And IOS Games

Microsoft is always keen to experiment with various things, and their latest research is regarding the integration of Android and iOS games to their gaming service called Xbox Live. Xbox is a series of gaming consoles released by Microsoft that compete with the Sony’s PlayStation devices. Previously, Microsoft used the Xbox Live only in the Microsoft consoles and Windows phone and was mainly employed by the users for managing friends list, achievements, and for playing games. As a new experiment, the tech giant is planning to make the Xbox Live compatible with other competitors like Apple and Android.

According to the reports coming from the various sources like The Verge, it is clear that the tech giant is seriously making plans to extend the compatibility of the Xbox Live service to other platforms. Experts assume that this may be due to the fact that the number of gamers in Android and iOS devices is increasing quite speedily than in the Xbox devices. Thus, the main intention behind this decision is to attract more users and thereby boost their popularity and revenue.

The move was first reported in the Microsoft job posting site, which reads: “We will create a modern framework that is open-source, lightweight, extensible and scalable across various platforms including Windows Store, Windows Phone, iOS, and Android.” By making Xbox Live to integrate in to various apps and games, Microsoft is really trying hard to regain their game developers from its competitors like Apple and Google. As of now, a certification and permission from Microsoft is needed to access Xbox Live, but soon, there will be fewer restrictions and more tools for the game developers to work with.

It is clearly understood that when Xbox Live is incorporated in all the latest platforms, it will help game developers to come up with more games for Xbox Live irrespective of the platform in which they have been developed. Windows Live technical support team revealed that this is why they are planning to hire new developers for building the platform.

Even though Google has its own game service just like that of Apple’s, it intends to create a cross platform game service that will help the gamers across multiple platforms to find friends, to do cross platform gaming and to earn achievements. This means that the competition will be tight. For more news and information regarding this, contact Windows Live technical support team right away.

Microsoft Relaxes XP Support Policy In China

Although Microsoft cancelled Windows online support for XP on April 8, the Chinese users of Windows XP seems to be least bothered. Statistics indicate that about 80 percent of the Windows users in China go for XP. The operating system has got wider popularity in the region. However, the unfading demand for Windows XP in China is literally bothering Microsoft. Being a country of 1.3 billion people, China has the potential to be the largest market for Windows operating systems. However, that Windows XP is not replaced by the latest Windows Operating systems like Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 is certainly for Microsoft’s disfavour.

An analysis of Windows XP market share in China

Windows XP holds two records in China. It is the largest market for both licensed version as well as pirated version of Windows XP in the world. While most of the organizations and government offices in China have the licensed Windows XP OS, home users go for pirated version owing to the unaffordable price tag. This has been the case ever since the very first release of Windows XP in China, which dates back to 2001.

Microsoft to provide to special concession for XP users in China

It was lately reported that the tech giant was ready to extend security support for Windows XP users in China owing to the unfading demand for the OS in the country. However, Microsoft said that it was not offering the security support on its own but in collaboration with internet security vendors in the country. The report was published in Microsoft’s official account with Sina Weibo. Tencent, the largest Internet firm in China has emerged as the top partner of Microsoft to provide security support for Windows XP in the country.

Unclear about the types of security services

Microsoft has not revealed yet as to what types of support will be extended for Windows XP users in China. Meanwhile, an expert in China said that the extended security support for Windows XP, that Microsoft is planning to offer, is less likely to be used by majority of the Chinese users as most of them are using pirated version of Windows XP.

In the past 13 years, only 10 percent of the Chinese Windows XP users downloaded the free Windows updates or contacted Windows online support for any help. It simply means that, whatever Microsoft does, XP users in China don’t really care.
