Importing An Xml File To An Excel Spreadsheet

Every enterprise requires the use of spreadsheets to tabulate their data. An XML map provides user the ability to save data in XML documents. This information can be then easily transferred into a predefined table in programs like MS Excel.
You can also use the Excel program to merge many information sources in XML documents. In a predefined spreadsheet, you can create maps to perform this action. Once you configure the map, you can easily extract the data into the table.
Are you new to this? Then these instructions should be of help:
  • In the application window click on File in the Excel ribbon menu. Now select Options then click on Customize Ribbon from the menu.
  • In the customization ribbon on the right side check the Developer checkbox, then select OK. Now the Developer tab will available on your Excel ribbon menu in the application window.
  • Now click on the Developer tab in ribbon menu. In the XML group in the tab, choose the Source option. An XML source dialog box appears.
  • In the pop-up window that appears, click on the Xml Maps option, and select the Add button. This opens the file browser, and now you must locate your.xsd schema file to get your XML data. Mark that file and click on Open. Clicking OK displays the schema with table data inside the XML maps window.
  • Within the spreadsheet, choose the area where you wish to display the XML information, and then drag the first line from the schema table data from the Xml Maps window to that spot in the spreadsheet.
  • Drop this line into the cell in spreadsheet to reconstruct table heading across the spreadsheet in a row of cells.
  • Select the Import option to open the Import XML window in the file browser. It will be found on the Developer tab. Go to the location of the XML file, which holds the data of the table, and then highlight it. Click on the Import option, which initiates the importing process. The data is mapped directly on to the spreadsheet under the row reading table information.
You have successfully regenerated your XML file in the Excel spreadsheet. This action may be hindered if you have an Invalid XML file. An Invalid XML must be resolved immediately to avoid facing potential errors. If you face trouble with XML files, contact Windows help and support to help you with your issues.
