What To Do When Outlook Stops Auto Populating Addresses

I am a business owner and I use a laptop running on Windows XP operating system. Moreover, I have installed Microsoft Outlook application for carrying out my business communication purposes. One day, when I was typing the email address in the field, some suggested email address were not populating in Outlook. However, by using the correct guidelines for Outlook problems and help, I was able to fix it very easily.

Microsoft Outlook is the popular email application client employed by many people both for personal as well as for business uses. It has a wide variety of features, making it the most preferred email client over others. In addition, it has an additional feature, using which the Outlook will populate the suggested email address when you enter the email address. These suggested email addresses will start populating once you type the starting letter of the email address.

Sometimes, you will find that these suggestions will not populate once you start typing the email. This is mainly because of the disabling of the Auto complete feature. However, it can be solved easily by enabling it again. Well, given below are some easy instructions that will help you to fix the issues when Outlook is not populating the email addresses.

Instructions
  • Open the Microsoft Outlook application in your system by double clicking its shortcut icon or by accessing it from the Windows Start menu.
  • Once the Outlook application that is opened in your system, enter your log in details in the appropriate fields and log in to your Microsoft Outlook account. Next, you need to click the menu called Tools. This will pop up a drop down menu and from the menu, move down and click the option that is labeled as Options.
  • In the window that opens, you need to click the option labeled as E-Mail Options, followed by clicking the tab called Advanced E-mail Options.
  • Check the box that says Suggest names while completing the To, Cc and Bcc fields. Checking this check box will enable the auto complete feature in Outlook. Besides this, a tick mark needs to be placed in the box that is seen adjacent to Automatic Name Checking. Now the email address will populate as soon as you type the email address in the appropriate field.
